For original characters, where was your character when they received their summons to the hotel? For canon characters, what was the last thing that happened in their world? This is where you really get to shine.)

Mingmei was born in the city of Shenzhen in the southwest of China on March 3, 1989. She was just a baby during the infamous Tienanmen Square Incident of June 4, 1989, but her family was far enough south that they were not directly involved with the incident. Her parents couldn't have been more proud to have a daughter born on the third day of the third month. The only thing that could have made it better is if Mingmei had been born a year previous, during the year of the dragon. However, they were content with having a daughter born into the year of the snake. It fit with her name, which means "intelligent", and it was partially why she was given that name. Those born under the year of the snake are often considered intelligent.

She was the third child of her family. She has one older brother and one older sister, all born within a few years of each other. Her eldest brother, Anguo, was born two years previous to her under the year of the rabbit. Her older sister, XiaoXing, was born during the year of the tiger. Mingmei was lucky to have been born, and her parents lived far enough from Beijing that they were able to keep their three children. It was, also, mostly because the two youngest were girls. Her brother Anguo would inherit everything from the family automatically. It wasn't much, but it was a decent sized home with a decent fortune to accompany it. Her parents weren't ridiculously wealthy, but Shenzhen was a growing city and the economy was improving constantly.

As a child, she was an ambitious girl. Even though girls in China were mostly expected to work with the family or to only attend middle school, Mingmei always wanted to do more. She felt that because she was intelligent and a hard-worker that she should be able to explore the possibilities that her brother would usually only have. However, she kept these opinions to herself as a child. Saying something like that out loud was sure to dishonor her older brother, and would possibly get her disowned by her family. Throughout her early school years, however, she remained at the top of her class, much to the chagrin of the other students in her school. School was the one place where she was allowed to shine, where it was acceptable for a girl to be the best. Even as a child, Mingmei saw her studies as her ticket out of China. She put her head down, bid her time in school, and hoped for the moment when she'd have the chance to go overseas.

As far as the rest of her personality, Mingmei was seen as a rather quiet girl. She didn't have many friends, though she did have one or two girlfriends who she was rather close to. She found it difficult, however, to befriend them too closely. They had dreams of carrying on their family names, of marrying and improving the life of their families in the traditional sense. Mingmei couldn't understand that. Perhaps it was because she was the third child, or even her sign, but she couldn't accept a fate that simply said she had to marry and have children. There was more to her life than that and, in many ways, she felt sorry for her older brother Anguo because he was tied directly to his fate.

Anguo attended school up until high school, when he was forced to move back home and help his parents with the local business that his father had started. It was a simple shop, mostly selling random goods but occasionally selling hand-crafted goods that XiaoXing and Mingmei were responsible for creating during their free time. Xiaoxing only received schooling up until middle school. However, Mingmei showed an aptitude for education and a strong interest in pursuing education elsewhere. Her quiet demeanor, coupled with her intelligence led her parents to believe that perhaps she had the ability to leave their life in China. So they put their funding towards Mingmei's education, paying for her to attend a full high school, and helping her to start her university education.

She was more than grateful for the sacrifices that her parents and her siblings made for her. She knew that it was Anguo's duty to take over the family business, but XiaoXing could have easily gone to university in her stead. She was lucky, and her sister fully supported Mingmei in her ventures into higher education. She showed an excellent aptitude for English and for music, falling in love instantly with the classics. She enjoyed history, as well, and had a keen interest of studying more about the history of her people. This was a career that her parents supported, one that was acceptable for a girl from their family, and they allowed Mingmei to continue her studies into university. She applied for many universities in China, including in the north in Beijing, but she was overly thrilled to be accepted into a university in Hong Kong.

She was going to study business in the Western world, and sought to bring the two worlds together. Hong Kong was the place where East met West, after all. So she left mainland China when she was twenty and ventured to Hong Kong, where her family did not yet have permission to travel. Though they were just an hour or so apart, to Mingmei, they were worlds apart where she was. She knew that she needed to make her family proud, to honor the sacrifices of her siblings and the honor of her family.

Mingmei began to dream big, and she wrote to the head of the university in Hong Kong, requesting for an opportunity to study overseas in the United States of America. She didn't think she'd be the one chosen for the exchange program; however, she was more than thrilled when she received the opportunity to go. Her scores on her exams, as well as her determination, seemed to be finally paying off. She graciously accepted the aide and the invitation to at Yale University. Mingmei returned home to Shenzhen to say goodbye to her family, and was wished well by all of them.

She has now graduated from Yale in the top 10% of her graduating class and is seeking work in New York. With a passion and a degree with international business, as well as a firm understanding of technology, Mingmei seeks to eventually earn a position working with Stark Industries and has come to Marvel's New York City in an attempt to secure a position.

Journal/Key: (All hotel residents receive two items: A key and a journal/tablet/phone to access the network. What does your character's journal and key look like? Very brief, 2-3 sentences.) Mingmei's key is a small ink pen that her father had given her when she was very young. Her journal is a small iPhone 5 that is one of her proud purchases recently.

External Door items: (If your character is an original character, what will they be bringing with them into their Door? This includes non-tangible items, like criminal pasts, college degrees, work history, children and backstory elements. It can also include physical items. Delete this section for canon characters.)

Mingmei is bringing her language abilities (speaking Cantonese, Mandarin and English fluently). She also has a handful of traditional Chinese outfits that she'll be bringing along, her books from college, and her enthusiasm at finding a job.

Storylines;

(Three storylines that can be filled by other characters in play. These can be open storylines for characters. For example, your character can have a storyline for their biological sister or for their spouse. Must be open upon character’s introduction into the game, not pre-filled!)

Open: (See above.) Song Anguo, who is Mingmei's older brother, would be a very welcomed face to see here.

Open: (See above.) Song XiaoXing, who is Mingmei's older sister, would also be welcomed. XiaoXing was married to a successful Chinese businessman who had recently passed away, but all other plot is completely open and welcome.

Open: (See above.)Friends and coworkers in general. Colleagues from university.

Writing Sample;

[As Mingmei was in game before, I don't know if this applies? But I can definitely link to samples from before if you'd like!]
